Learn how to use Vaulton

Getting Started

Welcome to Vaulton, the local, offline-first desktop password manager designed for privacy and security.

Vaulton operates entirely locally with no cloud dependencies, ensuring that your sensitive credentials never leave your device.

Installation

Vaulton is available as a desktop application for Windows, Ubuntu, and Fedora.

Windows

Download the .exe installer from our home page and run it to install Vaulton on your system.

Ubuntu / Fedora

Download the appropriate package (.deb or .rpm) and install it using your system's package manager.

Master Password

Your master password is the key to unlocking the application and your encrypted backups. It is the only password you need to remember. Make sure it is strong, unique, and memorable.

Warning: Vaulton has an offline-first architecture, meaning we never store your master password on our servers. If you forget it, you will lose access to your local vault.

Backup & Restore

Since Vaulton operates locally, it is highly recommended to regularly back up your vault.

You can export your data securely as an Encrypted SQLite (.db) file, requiring your Master Password for import, or optionally as an Unencrypted CSV (.csv). Use the system dialog integration in the app to save these files safely to your drive or external media.
